EMA's "Please Recycle" Program

In conjunction with the Direct Marketing Association and the Magazine Publishers of America, the Envelope Manufacturers Association has launched a “Please Recycle” Program to inform consumers that envelopes, along with magazines, catalogues, and newspapers are recyclable. Most of us recycle our newspapers, but many people don’t know that they can also recycle envelopes, catalogues, magazines, direct mail, and packaging. Because only about 30 percent of this “mixed paper” is recycled annually in the United States, EMA hopes to stimulate recycling activity through this campaign and improve the overall recycling/recovery rate for the paper-based communications industry. The Envelope Makers' & Manufacturing Stationers' Association

The Envelope Makers' and Manufacturing Stationers' Association (EMMSA) was formed in 1940 by bringing together two organizations which both originated in 1920.

Purpose of the Association

The Purpose of EMMSA is to:
    1. Promote and represent the interests of Members, which includes legislation and regulation.

    2. Provide members with information, statistics, standards and knowledge.

    3. Develop and maintain effective communications in the Postal sector, primarily with Royal Mail, Postwatch and Postcomm.

    4. Develop and maintain effective communications with other industry associations, particularly EMA, FEPE and major UK trade associations.

    5. Offer an educational input for members by organizing seminars and conferences as well as working to develop and promote appropriate qualifications for the industry.

    6. Provide a range of services, events and information which ensures that all members perceive membership to be beneficial to their business and cost effective.

The aim of the Association is to meet needs and to concentrate efforts and activities in those areas that are of most benefit or concern to members at any point in time.
